White Hibachi chef says he is saving up money for a trip to Japan

ST. PAUL, MN — The Hubert family was visibly distraught upon realizing that their chef at Hibachi Hut, a Japanese-themed restaurant in the mall parking lot, would be a white guy with a pony tail. “It’s just disappointing,” says Patty Hubert of the situation. “We only come here once a year for Dillon’s birthday and we want to have an authentic experience.” The chef, who was a Japanese Culture major at the community college and has extensive knowledge of anime, assured the Huberts that he was more than capable of delivering an experience equal to his Japanese counterparts. “The Japanese value discipline and honor above all else,” said the white guy with the hint of a Japanese inflection. “I would feel great shame if you did not enjoy your meal.” The Huberts confessed that the food was good, but they could not help but wonder how much better it would have been with an actual Japanese chef.
